The CAVAL reciprocal borrowing scheme allows you to borrow items from other Victorian TAFE Institutes, universities and some government departments.
Registration
If you are a student at another institute and wish to borrow from Chisholm libraries, present your current CAVAL card and home institution ID card at the Loans Desk to join the Chisholm library. You may register up until the end of November.

Items requested by another borrower cannot be renewed. Overdue items may be renewed if your fines are less than $20.00.

Requests
You may request items that are on loan or are located at another campus using the catalogue. You will be notified when the item is available.
Fines
Fines are 20c per day, per overdue item. All days are counted, including weekends. Public holidays are excluded. Fines stop accruing from the day items are returned or renewed. Borrowing continues if your fines remain under $20.00. If your fines reach $20.00 or more the whole amount must be paid before new loans or renewals can occur.
CAVAL Rules
Under CAVAL rules if you do not pay for lost or damaged items or the fines for late returns you will be banned from all participating libraries. Your home institution will be notified.
If your CAVAL card is lost or stolen, inform your home library immediately and the other libraries at which you have enrolled.
Photocopiers/Binders
Colour and black and white photocopiers are available at each campus library. Photocopy cards can be purchased for $2.00 from the Loans Desk. Credit can be added to the card using either the coin or note loaders. EFTPOS, using a debit card, is also available. Charges for copying are located at the photocopiers. Spiral binding facilities are available at all campuses. Binders may be purchased from the Loans Desk.
