Yvette Sittrop                                                    - Professional Writing and Editing

Yvette Sittrop knew that she had to realise her writing dreams and take the plunge into literary waters. “There are millions of people out there all searching for the right job and you have to be prepared to make a stand and
go for it - wade in and do it,” Yvette said.

Skills gained from her diploma have beeninvaluable in a job at the top Australianpublisher the Five Mile Press licensing arm, specialising in iconic children’s literary characters such as Shrek and Thomas theTank Engine.

“When I started my full-time two year courseat Chisholm Institute in Professional Writing and Editing in 2005 I never dreamed that it would be so exciting. It’s something I havealways wanted to achieve.”

Yvette is able to put all of the skills shelearnt from her course into daily action.
An interesting part of Yvette’s position is translating American and European books into local story versions for the Australian market.

“Chisholm’s course is very hands on and creative. The teachers were great at passing on their knowledge and fundamentals of thecraft and eager to help us succeed. This course enabled me to get my diploma and enter the industry in a couple of years which was a lot better than the three to five years it would have taken me at University.”
